The "rug-within-a-rug" design is a Gabbeh standard, requiring astute design sense and mastery of both rug-knotting and color. This piece is rendered almost entirely in shades of indigo, from deep midnight blue to faded denim. The rectangles add just enough structure, with the smaller appearing to float upon the larger.
