The design:

A distinctively Key West take on the ancient art of rug making. This bespoke rug is inspired by aerial views and nautical maps of the lower Florida Keys. If you have ever flown over our island chain, you'll recognize the striking shifts in color that the water makes as the depths change. The design spans from Big Pine Key down through Key West. It captures the nearshore waters and lacy island shapes that create this stunning and unique place we call home. 

The process:

In 2019 we partnered with a non-profit focused on revitalizing traditional textile arts in Afghanistan and connecting weavers with the Western markets. Together we created Archeo-exclusive designs, inspired by Key West's unique charm. We worked directly with a female design team in Kabul to create this line of Florida Keys Topography rugs inspired by our exquisite surroundings. Each rug is skillfully hand-knotted by women weavers in Afghanistan with the goal of empowering and employing women, as well as creating timeless rugs that tell a story.
