On Island Time

Most of the time we travel to far flung corners of the earth for Archeo, but occasionally we get to stay close to home. On a recent trip, we went ’North’ to Miami Beach, to attend the Maison et Objet show. Most people arrived at the show in shiny cars. We took a decidedly more island mode of transportation – the bicycle! Much of what we saw was glamorous, glossy and new. We liked it, of course, but were reminded that what we love are pieces that have a history, a patina that tells their story, and that are made patiently and with care, using age-old methods. We came home inspired more than ever by the vision of Archeo, a place where modern living intersects with ancient art.
