I’m leaving soon for Africa. I always look forward to meeting my contacts throughout South and Central Africa and looking for treasures for the gallery.
This year I have even more motivation to bring back exceptional African artifacts – there’s a quiet but persistent movement amongst fashion-forecasters toward tribal style.
In the past few months Archeo has been contacted by two separate magazines (with names like Vogue and Elle) about using our pieces in photo shoots. Another (household name) clothier called us about procuring African pieces for their flagship New York store.
It seems the style-savvy have recognized the seamless relationship between tribal and modern. Or maybe divining the future begins with a glance to the past?
In our world, simple classic shapes with history and nobility have always been the pinnacle of style. Don’t you agree?
