Delhi is eye opening. Opulent, colourful, fast-paced, crowded, impoverished. Manicured Embassy lawns face wide green boulevards, while starving beggars dot the intersections.
What is immediately evident is that we have landed in a country of contrasts. We find street carts brimming with lush fruits and vegetables that we dare not eat. Chaotic, littered marketplaces undoubtedly hold exquisite treasures within. A barren, dusty rural landscape is graced only by the electric pink windblown sari adorning a Hindu beauty. Travelling on roads with no apparent street rules, trucks and mopeds fly past at the speed of light, darting between lingering cows, camels and elephants.
Eye opening indeed. Here we are … let’s shop!
