Named after a copper-rich region in southeastern DRC, and also known as a handa, the Katanga cross was once used as currency and valued for its metal content. To create them, smiths poured molten copper into sand molds. Today, we admire them for the sculptural beauty, especially when displayed in a line or in clusters.
