Whistles such as this one epitomize the African aesthetic we prize so highly here at Archeo: useful objects manifested as art. This elegantly rendered, anthropomorphic sculpture is all the more beautiful for having been held and loved by the human hands who owned it and used it as an instrument. We also appreciate the Cubist sensibility it conjures, like a sculpture by Braque, Brancusi, or Picasso who were all inspired by African art.
